From ‘K’ with Love – An Open Love Letter to…
By Kevin Nations Posted on Sep 30, 2009
.
Dear Client, I LOVE YOU. Plain and simple, huh?
How can I KNOW that?
This CRITICALLY IMPORTANT business distinction actually came to me as a response to a simple question.
A few months back, on day two of a Big Ticket Blueprint Training Weekend, Lissa Bolles asked me the following question – “So Kevin what do YOU do when someone completely knocks off your training and offers it as their own?”
This was no theoretical question. One of my other students had forwarded me emails that showed that essentially someone was indeed ‘modeling’ my trainings, promising similar outcomes, etc.
My response to that question completely ‘in the moment’ put a shocked hush on the room that day and changed my vision of my business forever.
“I’ll never have competition in this space because there’s NOBODY who can love their clients and this calling like I do!”, I responded.
Imagine – LOVE as a business asset!
I realized on that AWESOME day that I LOVED my work, I LOVED my clients, I LOVED my business. If you’re reading this, I LOVE and truly want the best for you!!!
It is simply AMAZING…
When you step into the work into which you were TRULY placed on this planet to serve, a LOVE for what you do overtakes you and drives you completely from FLOW!
Of COURSE you’re passionate about obtaining clients, but it’s not about how YOU will be impacted – but about how THEIR lives will change.
You want ALL of the clients that are an ideal fit and never feel tempted any more to ‘stretch’ your criteria to pursue clients outside your target because you know that there is MORE than enough business INSIDE your area of TRUE expertise!
When I’ve attempted to get CUTE – or SMART, to follow trends or ‘best practices’ without running them through the filter of ‘Does this marketing / service demonstrate the LOVE I have for my clients / future clients?’, I have worked aimlessly with no real success.
When I’ve served from FLOW and worked my rear off but from a place of LOVE and SERVICE, I’ve seen transformations that transcended my wildest dreams and imaginations. Many of you have seen the testimonials of that. The results that have happened as a result of some clients working with me has been nothing but amazing. Sometimes almost miraculous.
And it is ALL attributed to SERVING in a place of FLOW from SOURCE and LOVING the market you’re in enough to be silent and find your place.
“The place you will FIND to serve from is much larger that any place you can SEEK to serve from!”
Imagine the POWER that YOU have to step into that place of power and to serve from the amazing place of REALLY LOVING your marketplace!
I PROMISE YOU – that if you commit to serving from this space – you’ll be FAR more powerful than if you served from your research, your skill alone.
St. John once wrote “There is no fear in love, but perfect Love drives away fear”
Imagine the power and the fearlessness you can have and command when you commit to coming from a place of truly LOVING your market, your clients!
Let this day be a ‘dressing-room’ of sorts to try this on!
As always – this post is NOT complete without your comments. So – comment away and add your energy to the mix. Also, I challenge you to promote this anywhere you feel that the market can be encouraged, to be awakened and called out to this powerful place of service.
The contribution YOU make to the universe demands you play a bigger game. This post has just described the uniform for that game!
Let’s DO IT!
Kevin

This world of ours is changing! What an exciting time to be alive where we can have conversations about the essential quality of love in our businesses and at work.
I saw a post on FastCompany’s site last week, questioning the value of generosity in business. Most of the responders missed what you so openly laid out in this post, Kevin.
Open your heart
Be authentic
Use your inner compass (or love-bearing)
Be of service
As more of us step up to a changing way… well, my vision is indiscribable in words just now. Beaming heart, bright smile, spreading Love.
Thank you, Kevin, for being a beacon!

Love isn’t unfairly generous to the recipient. Love protects ITSELF so it can serve!
Most people mistake love for self-lessness, for giving without expectation.
When you TRULY love your clients, you can demand they invest in themselves because they KNOW you have their best interests in mind!

Kevin,
I am so grateful for having the opportunity to read your “Open Love Letter to Me”. My name is Ping Li, I am your student, I took one of your teleseminars earlier this years.
First of all, I want to thank you for sharing your UNCONDITIONAL LOVE with the world, all of your students, and me.
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE is the most powerful force of the universe, is the force of GOD that heals anything in this universe, heals our heart pains, our separations, as well as all of our problems and challenges in our physical reality. It holds everything together and brings order, harmony, beauty, perfection, and abundance to all forms in the universe. It is also the essence of WHO WE REALLY ARE WITHIN.
Congratulation, Kevin! Thank you being a conduit of divine UNCONDITIONAL LOVE to all and being an exsample for me and for many to follow. This is the essence of ALL of our work on earth, this in also my work to express my UNCONDITIONAL LOVE to all and to bring out the PURE LOVE AND LIGHT that is within each of us and within each SOUL right now and right here so that we can heal ourselves, others and our earth plane.
When we chose to love unconditionally instead of fear we shift our vibration and aligns ourselves and become a divine channel of all possibilities and all potentialities, and work with the current of the GOD AND DIVINE FORCE and have everything we desires in our hearts to come to us effortlessly and miraculously.
Thanks again, Kevin, from the deepest part of my heart and know that your UNCONDTIONAL LOVE to all will bring you rich rewards that will beyond your wildest imaginations. I am so happy for you and joy in my heart.
You are blessed, loved, as always! I look forward to connect with you in person when it is the perfect and divine time!
I love you and love to all!

This is the guy I met around a group table in San Diego. I am going to wear this uniform every day, from this day forward.
I saw you play at the Gaslamp last Saturday night and I have to say, you’re a home run hitter. That night changed my life in some profound ways. As @MelCoach said, it was a profound night out.
Thanks for this article,

Wow! This has been sitting in my inbox for a few days. Just read it on a morning when I am sitting down to finally commit to beginning a business I have been dreaming of for years and feeling overwhelmed by information and choices. This reminded me that I can’t go wrong as long as Love is my compass. This is so perfect for me because my business is all about teaching equestrians about coming from a place of Love instead of fear and intimidation to work with and win with their horses. I’ll be keeping this handy to read as a reminder.

Hey, Kevin, Terrific post! When I first listened to your CD, I wrote down the process to follow before meeting with a client. I review this before every meeting (I write it in each journal I keep). After reading it, while sitting in my vehicle before I go into their office or receive their call on the phone, I send ‘love’ to the potential client, unattached to the outcome, knowing that if it is right for them right now, they will become a client. Most clients say ‘yes’ right on the spot. I follow up with a cutomized proposal, and so far every one who’s received a proposal has become a client.
It works, if only more people would realize it.
Thanks for the guidance.

Wow Kevin!
You gave me a boost of confidence and hope! I have been operating with the “Love energy” to build my business, knowing that it’s how I make the biggest difference. As of now my clientele, thus my impact, is not very big. And I was wondering if I was a bit too “out there”. Today you confirmed that I am on the right track. Thank you!
You also reiterated what I had heard before about narrowing my niche, which I have neglected to do so far. And that’s probably where my challenge to attract clients is.
Looking forward to work with you in the future!
All the best!

Thanks for the wonderful blog post- I have operated with the idea of love, and also beauty in my businesses for years. I have had many people copy what I have done and at first I did get angry and then came to realize that hey- it must be a great idea- and most importantly- no one can truly copy me because they are not me. It is the love, beauty, passion, and Spirit that I put into my programs and materials that make them work. Thanks for sharing this!

What an exhilirating way to sum up the idea of “Customer Service”, no matter what industry you’re in.
It’s not about leads and clients but attracting “people” aligned with your way of delivering heart centered service. Doing business from a space of gratitude for the connection is what guarantees the lack of competition.

Thanks for this super post. There is so much power in LOVE. With nearly 50 current clients, I can’t describe the feelings I have for each and every one of their adorable hearts!
Narrowing my market, as you so sagely recommended, has completely changed the course of my career. Amazing to think that I had just two precious clients when I met you in August of 2008.

Kevin,
Been keeping up here since you started posting again and all I can say is, WOW, So much heart here and it’s refreshing to hear. Even in the business of marketing, conversion, and Big Ticket Sales, love is the key. Loving is our natural state when we come in to the world and by the time we are adults it’s almost all covered up with details, planning, to do lists, and “getting clients.”
Thanks for the reminder to come from a place of love and service. It makes the world of difference for everyone.

A Love & Gratitude note!
Woke up today especially embraced and taken by an energy of LOVE & Gratitude. At a level especially higher than usual. As I did my am fitness moment, my thoughts kept taking me to this place of LOVING energy where the persistent knowing of how important it is to simply be open to share the LOVE we hold in our precious hearts and choosing to do so totally detached from outcome…this knowing kept coming back to me!
Later I found myself compelled to share this with the world around me, and so I brought this energy of LOVE to the work I created today as well as through a posting I shared late this morning on Facebook. It read:
Can U gift love & gratitude detached from outcome? Can U reach out & share of yourself without being attached 2 outcome? Without thinking of what you will, or will not, get in return? Think of this for a moment! When we r able 2simply share the love we hold in our hearts, w/out being consumed over what others will think, say, or do, *that* is when inner peace begins 2 truly make home of our Being.
DBI Love & Light!
And then, later in the day… your LOVE LETTER! just when I’m doing my work of LOVE & Appreciation for the Children of this world, the true LOVE of my existence! Could it be more Divine order than that? Could it mean any more to me than it has? When we ask the questions, the answers show up! When the student is ready, the teacher always appears!
Thanks for the lessons learned and showing up as the magical teacher! Thank you for the love shared! You are indeed held in gracious and profound LOVE & Gratitude!

LOVE as a business asset…You really have hit the mark. Your brave and bold blog post is not only compelling and inspiring, but also an honest example of what it is to truly access FLOW and the inevitable rewards that follow.
Personally, I believe LOVE to be the most mighty and powerful expression of all, and I suspect sourced dierectly from, well…Source. While it sometimes feels counter-intuitive to risk loving so unabashedly (it just seems a little easier to play it safe), look at what you’ve created since opening the flood gates and allowing it at full strength.
As I read through the comments on this post I see a ripple effect. Evidence of the impact your LOVE has already had on your clients and your work. Unique and important content is imperative, but come from LOVE…and you can create ANYTHING!!!

Kevin..Thanks for the reminder that the purpose of life is more important than business alone, and in fact assists it. Also, the “filter check” of how you interact with clients is very important. People are more discriminating of evaluating your product or service based on how you sell them… long term it’s a winner to add value, and if you are in it only for the short term only, then you are always chasing dreams, instead of living them.

Thank you for that perspective.
I would also like to add a little to that perspective.
As a model & muse, I’ve seen people stand behind the photographer and take the same picture the photographers are taking while doing outdoor shoots. I’ve seen painters take a photograph that the photographer put so much creativity and thought into composing, and paint the exact same picture. I’ve seen people use my writing without crediting me…. and for all of it I have to feel thankful. Thankful that there are so many people who are in touch with their creativity and open enough to find that kind of deep inspiration.
For anything that anyone thinks up, invents, or creates, there has been at least 100 times that many people doing or thinking about the same thing, somewhere in the world. Inspiration comes from something outside ourselves so it is not anything that we can claim to solely “own”.
…besides that, no two people are the same so (especially with art) no one will be able to re-create the exact duplicate, even if they try. The difference between us besides experience/skill is energy. No two energy fields are exactly the same. And energy goes into anything that is created or developed. Even Love…because what really is going to make or break success is your relationship with your work (which is ultimately equal to your relationship with yourself).
Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you.

Kevin,
Funny that I opened the email that brought me to this post. Here’s why. I know Lissa Bolles. And I had planned on working with you a few years ago, but my life got in the way.
Well, I thought it was my life. I was certain I wanted/needed to have a great big client base, a membership site, lots of teleclasses, and tons of podcasts for sale. Then I would be financially fine, and my dreams could really manifest themselves.
And thankfully I say now, but a few months ago before I met a few people who transformed my thinking, I was devastated by my inadequate to nothing happening business.
Two of those people who helped transform me are here- Lissa Bolles and Amethyst Wyldfyre. From their love, support, transformational changes to me I have found who I love to serve. Who I get tingles and tears about when I work with them.
And the ingredient that was missing for me was love.
Yep, Love is the best business asset there is.
Thanks for loving your lost sheep.
Warmly,
Grace

Dearest Brother In Light – Love is all there is you know – all the rest of it is made up stuff (the illusion) – we are either in LOVE or we are in FEAR – this is the central thesis of A Course In Miracles and it’s a core Universal Truth. Sometimes the FEAR is totally irrational but there it is – and we can’t out think it, we can’t out smart it, we can’t run away from it either – it’s that dark shadow where we place all those parts of ourselves that we don’t believe are good enough (LOVEABLE) enough to see the light of day – that place – when we can go in there with the Bright Shining Light of True Love and Compassion in Service is the place where all the magical and miraculous gifts are waiting for us to retrieve. When we can hold that Sacred Space and lead our clients in Love through that valley – Miracles become ordinary and living an exceptional life of destiny becomes the norm – what a wonderful world it will be when we are all in perfect alignment with our highest blessings. Thank you for being who you are and doing what you do.
With deep love and limitless light…..

Kevin,
I am just in between clients and I took a moment to read your post! WOW..I love it when a man talks OPENLY about what/who he LOVES That is powerful! I feel absolutely BLESSED to do the work I GET TO Do each day with the women (and men too – in my private practice)…it is TRULY a GIFT from my creator to have been opened to the work I do today.
For years I struggled with my inner self (unknowingly) by working very hard at a JOB I was good at and very successful, but did not truly LOVE. While I did LOVE my clients and helping them, it was not a fulfilling job! My health and my relationships suffered greatly. it took a while to WAKE UP!
Today, that is completely different! I LOVE MY Life’s Work, MY CLIENTS and everything about my life! Let’s say that my cup is VERY FULL! There are a lot of coaches out there and many others doing GODDESS Retreats…I BLESS them ALL…but none of them are me and I am not them! WE ALL have our place and our gifts to give the world. Nothing is unique but WE ARE ALL UNIQUE – we will attract the people that we are here to serve and support. The only competition we ever really have is ones self!
See you at Kelly O’Neil’s retreat in a few weeks in LA!
Blessings and LOVE,
Ali

Kevin (and Ali Grace),
I love that you chose to write about this awareness. You’ve managed to cover a few key concepts that I think all coaches, entrepreneurs, marketers, and servants to Spirit are well off to remember.
First, SOURCE is not our egos…when we forget that, we can end up being modern Willy Loman’s, wondering why we keep running into a brick wall. Second, the importance of acknowledging that there’s not a ton of truly unique, never-before-thought-of stuff out there can’t be understated. The people that look at working with you, me, Ali, Julie Ann, et. al., are not buying a paradigm…they’re buying what we’re able to offer them that helps them live their highest selves and lives. You reminded me of that two weeks ago.
The Divine can’t work through us when we’ve got the ego-induced pressure to have to deliver from some place of unique transformational or sales technologies, rather than remember that we just open to our own passion that, in turn, opens the channel inside that allows us to emanate the Love you speak of on behalf of our Spirits and the Divine. When people feel that that’s where we’re coming from, then the old adage of “Same wine, different bottle” makes a lot more sense.
Lastly, your post also shows that all of us are likely much better off when we realize, as Ali said, that there’s plenty of people out there that want the transformation that we’re all offering, and that cannot happen without relationship. I’ve talked with coaches who do not get that, and it’s horrible. So, your commitment to coming from a place of connection and passion for others’ best expression of their own passion in their business and life is a great model for me and all those who are working with you.
Thanks for the great reminders and your juice!
Warmly,
Geoff

WOW, Kevin.
We do step into our highest power and potential – and profitability – when we flow from LOVE …
That’s the greatest power there is – and through it we serve the highest, for those whose lives we change through our mission, and for ourselves, through living out our joy!
LOVE as a business asset – high truth, my friend!
To GREATNESS,
Julie Ann

Hey…love your thoughts…particularly keeping front of mind how your clients lives will change as opposed to how you’ll be impacted.
Keep up the inspiration Kevin.
Warmly
