I so agree with your blog post, Kevin. And I also think that Scout’s comment is spot on. I’ve spent a huge amount of energy and time studying with mentors over the past year, and with spiritual mentors over the past 15 years. Literally, the decision to do that has changed my life. We are all connected, so going forth and thinking one can do it all on one’s own doesn’t work, simply from an energetic standpoint. To me, when one consistenly says no to mentoring, one is consistently saying no to one’s own greatness and potential.

Here’s what the Cistercian monk and writer Thomas Merton has to say about this:

“Sometimes we see a kind of truth all at once…a kind of image of completeness. But it is not real completeness. We have to make it up afterwards in our own rag-picking way, grubbing around in our own rubbish.” And as we do so, “we are really living that idea, working it out in our own lives.”

Quoted in Paul Elie — The Life You Save May Be Your Own. Elie then writes: “The passage is an account of the process of pilgrimage, of the way secondhand knowledge becomes firsthand experience, of the way one comes to see with one’s own eyes.”

Refusing that pilgrimage, refusing to accept the imperfection of our own journey, preferring our intuitive experiences, is refusing to engage in the human experience, refusing to incarnate that which we intuit, refusing relationship, refusing to grow.

I will forever hold the image of you standing on the chair at the event reaching up holding the imaginary hands of your mentors while reaching down to hold the hand of your client, who in turn reaches down to her client..and so on.

    Nicely done, and nicely said.

    Keep it coming Kevin.

Dear Kevin – as one who is virtually continuously connected via a clear channel to SOURCE and as a HIGHLY INVESTED client of mentors myself I have to affirm that it is through a LINEAGE – a line of teachers, mentors and wise ones, that we are all able to learn, grow, expand and blossom – some physically incarnate in bodies – others in the higher planes of existence.

We are all here to bring our unique gifts and expressions to life – each one of us is a vital part of the whole – and when we seek to become THE ONE SOURCE for others to get all their info or teaching from without having the humility and grace to know that there are areas where we too can learn that’s when problems set in – most specifically the problem of separation – from the whole and ultimately from our SOURCE because we are ALL ONE BEING, we are all ONE BREATH.

Beyond your teaching here on the energetics of the flow of investment I would also like to respectfully suggest that the BEST teachers are those that celebrate, encourage and motivate their students to not only excel but if at all possible to SURPASS them in the execution of the teachings.

Those are the teachers that will hold their students accountable to a high degree of excellence, commitment and ultimately contribution to the greater good. Good teachers and mentors are everywhere and many are pathways for us to acquire or remember those things that are vital to our personal growth or the growth of our business – rightly they should receive monetary reward for their contribution to our learning. Great Teachers are FEW – so when I find one – I make it a point to LEAP into action and engage in what they can teach me. I’m glad that I have chosen to invest my time this year in what YOU have to offer – because in the area that I personally am weakest at – for a variety of reasons – you certainly are a MASTER!

Thank you for bringing your great gifts forth and for being willing to speak your truth with clarity and conviction.

I am SO ready to serve you. And as you know – nothing makes me more proud than to watch someone I’ve mentored SHINE!!!

That’s the difference in a belief in helping people to their divine order and relegating people to their hierarchy-based order!

Not everyone who learns from you is destined to follow you!

The sad thing is people on a lower level vibration convince themselves the only reason coaches, mentors, mastermind groups, etc. say you need them is to get people to spend money. If they would take the time to look at the results of people who don’t invest in themselves vs the people who do invest in themselves, they may form a different opinion. It’s easy to justify why NOT to do something.

Sometimes the investment itself in a mentor who doesn’t produce is the catalyst we need. However, I agree that mentors are called to a high calling!

Perhaps a blog post coming soon…

    Kevin,

I totally agree with this post. I have mentors in many areas of my life – business, health and spirituality are the main focus for me right now.

What I’d add to this discussion is that there are many people out there offering mentorship who DON’T deliver the quality I’m looking for…but they sure have a good sales pitch.

I know I speak for many when I say that I believe in paying for mentorship, but I’ve had to learn over the past few years how to discern who really delivers what they promise.

While I haven’t yet worked with you, I know, from all the people I know who have had that privilege, that you do deliver. I look forward to my opportunity to experience that first hand as well!

As always, I’m delighted with the direction your work and your posts are going. You are an inspiration to me.

Linda – glad to be an inspiration! RE: Mentors that don’t deliver but ‘pitch’ – perhaps it is a great filter to be LOOKING for that next mentor rather than waiting for a pitch.
When you’re in active pursuit of certain qualities – they can show up even faster than a smooth-talking pitchman!

Thank you for speaking to the tremendous value of mentors.

I have sought out and embraced the blessing of mentors for as long as I can remember. Not only have they helped me to achieve my desired outcome, they have made the ride much deeper and richer. I have also become true friends and partners with many of my mentors.

And you dear Kevin, are a shining example of what a mentor and true friend can be! :)

It’s important to learn from people who have completely different beliefs and experiences than we do. It’s the only way to escape the echo chamber of our own limitations.

The idea that we don’t need mentors is hoo-ey! We need to be learning from others all the time in this fast-paced world, and be open to our own growth, e.g., letting go of our limitations as we become more open and expansive, as we achieve more, experience more, and understand more.

Hooo-ey it is! Love the comment and the so-appropriate use of the word “Hoo-ey”!

This IS a provocative discussion. Another level: We search for comfort by defining the boundaries of where we are going (which is unknown tp us) by where we have already been. Recipe for failure in exploring new lands. And for developing higher level skills and capacities.

Every one of us is thumbprint-unique and so is our business. The challenge is to absorb new information/perspectives/etc. so one can steer one’s own business and life. That independence is what characterizes an in-the-bone entrepreneur….and becoming an entrepreneur (an original, not an implementer of someone else’s idea) is ultimately the state we all seek.

  9. I enjoyed this post, Kevin! It’s been tough for me to find a true mentor because I wanted someone who is a master in business AND metaphysics … but wouldn’t you know it, I had my first session today with someone I’m thrilled to study with!

I think we attract what we are. We have to be our own perfect client, which means we have to continually invest in our own growth. Vibrationally, that just makes sense.

Not sure I would refer to Source as a “crippling myth” – my 700% increase in business over the last year did not come from anything I learned in a workshop or class. If anything, I went with guidance and against a lot of what I’d been taught. But – the contrast helped me a lot.

So … I’m all for mentorship IN COMBINATION with the infinite inner wisdom that is our own Source.

    Blessings,
    Andrea

My titles are intended to provoke. And I draw MANY things from Source. However, I celebrate with abandon the PEOPLE that Source has served us with who can interpret and guide us on the wonderful road ahead!
AND who can hold us accountable for keeping our wheels between the lines and our foot on the gas!

God sure is my Source and Supply, but intuition and spiritual guidance (which I help others hear) is one thing. It’s a heart-knowing, not a how-to book or a to-do list. Figuring out what to do here in the physical plane to follow that guidance is another matter!! I translate general spiritual guidance into very specific, effective, efficient action plans for concrete results, and am paid well for this rare and valuable service. Mentoring is the easiest way to get unstuck and create a successful life while fulfilling your spiritual purpose and honoring both yourself and your Source. Great insight, Kevin.

  11. Thank you Kevin for always having the courage to state what you know is true, without any apology. I can’t even begin to tell you HOW much your mentorship is impacting ALL areas of my life.
How can I possibly be in integrity and ask people to invest in themselves in a MAJOR way if I do not do that for myself? You only can authentically hold a powerful space for someone to choose to invest in themselves, and with you, when you know what this experience is like. I love investing in myself in a mentorship/coaching relationship as an act of self love. I am worth it and this is the message I support others in making.
BTW, I closed another BT Sale yesterday for $7500. Closed Sales this month are $18,300. I am close to my $20K goal with 6 days left.
    Thank you for everything. L,R

    Kevin –

    I LOVE this post.

It is so in line with what I was feeling deeply a few minutes ago, driving home. (Hmmmm, with you as my mentor I guess this is not a surprise).

On my drive, what came over me so strongly was the SOLID conviction of value, as I prepare my next group offering at a high ticket price.

I hold a deep knowing that I will find the people who will invest in themselves through me, at a high level. Through that investment they will create a magnificent transformation for themselves.

The reason I know this is because I have invested in myself, found mentors, done the work, and changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. And I have been side by side with many others who have done the same. I know it’s a model that works, and I’m right in the middle of it – receiving mentorship as I mentor others.

I would not hold this conviction had I NOT invested in myself, and found the mentors I have.

The sheer determination a person shows when they decide to find a top level mentor, means that NOW is the time that they are going to make this change, engage fully with their life, their business and their personal power.

I can absolutely say without reservation that working with you as my mentor has skyrocketed my business far past anything I imagined, and I am embracing the ride.

    Thanks, Kev.

    • Scout-You couldn’t have said it any better. I feel blessed to be in this high level frequency with Kevin, you and my other colleagues.
I don’t know if it gets any better than this.

I love what you are saying here, it is so true. I have noticed that the times in my life where I made some of my greatest errors were when I was not accessing a mentor. It is said the fastest way to get from point A to point B is to spend time with someone who is already at Point B. Their frequency and point of view can make all the difference.

I am excited to find the mentors to support me in taking Clarity10 out in the world. Thank you for who you are Kevin.

Spot on Kevin! Referring to the ‘higher powers’ as a source of inspiration is a way of swelling out self-importance. It is also denying our own empowerment. I would love to sign up for one of your courses but I’m coming back from bankruptcy beautifully, elegantly and sweetly into outstanding success; I only read and follow truly lucid mentors. Because I am one. If you are curious abut a future customer (and not too busy with that little girl of yours :) ) you can see who we are at the new website I posted in my info. All power to your quantum heart.
with love and gratitude for your brilliance,

Congratulations! My little girl is growing out of having tons of ‘daddy time’! But it’s all good – we still have TONS of fun. Spent several days in Vegas last week with my son so that was outstanding!
