Wow. Catching up after not reading your blog for a while and this one makes me want to work with you! I’m just starting a consulting business and finding myself a little wobbly as I am moving from selling a physical product to selling “me” and it’s been very easy to get caught up in the egos of others. Serving, teaching and inspiring others has always been my passion and reading this has snapped me back to it! THANK YOU!!

  2. Yes Kevin, you don’t know me just yet. And I so believe that everything is in DIVINE ORDER! I was writing a thank you note to your friend Pina in FB and notice your name mentioned.

Ooopppps that hurts was my first reaction as I read your blog for I must admit, I can mirror myself as that person at times. I feel that I need to transform my life once again and wanting some signs trusting having faith and keep saying to myself “everything I need is taken care of to follow my higher path” – low and behold I came across this very compelling and profound message of yours that penetrated into my core. Me playing small doesn’t serve me anymore! My heart and soul is calling me to be of service and fulfill the purpose I came here to be. As a saying goes “when the student is ready the teacher will come.

Thank you Kevin for being an angel and for your gift of love to the world!

    Infinite love and gratitude,

    Hi Kevin!

Thanks for the blog post- enjoyed it. I am learning a lot and I like your spin on things.

I live in Vegas and hope to meet you while you are in town for your event.

    Warmly,

  4. Kevin -
Bravo! While I admire many gurus, I have never been one to follow someone because of “who” they “were.” That, of course, is a whole portion of your teachings isn’t it? I am shocked (and probably should not be) that someone would be so blatent with their approach to anyone. I was raised that it was not polite behavior to try to make someone else feel small. Too bad. It seems that individual still has a lot to learn in order to reach their full potential!

I too believe that we are all here to reach a calling that God has for us. I’m glad that there are people like you that are willing to guide without ego. I look forward to the journey I am on with you.
    To your success!

  5. Kevin,

    Fantastic article!

I liked this the best “How can we play together?

If you’re brave enough to take on that charge, I was sent here to serve you to do that in a way that transcends your wildest imagination.”

Thank you Kevin for your authenticity, humor and demonstration that we can be the best by being ourselves, by following our hearts and living and expressing our purpose. It is not status or comparison that defines us,

Kevin, this is why people love working with you. Reconnecting work and money with personal meaning is a high calling indeed. Truth and meaning trickle up, influencing our economy and our society for the good.

Slogans and campaigns to “improve” our world come and go. When you can combine meaning and personal growth with a sound business model, you have created the gold standard for something that will last and expand. Business is the most powerful force for lasting improvement of human life on this planet.

    Hey Kevin,

The more I get to know you, the more I am impressed with how you truly are in person and how that completely is consistent with your “persona.” You really are a “what-you-see-is-what-you-get” kinda guy in all the best ways.

I’m honored to call you my friend and mentor. And am so grateful you are fully living and communicating your mission to the world. We are all better for it! And the more people take your training, the more the world will be better for all the lives that are touched in a positive way.

    Hugs,

    Thanks for your posts, Kevin.
I so appreciate your candor and attitude about life. Because of working with you, my belief in myself has gone to a whole ‘nother level.
You opened up a whole new world of possibility to me, in a way that I had never even thought about. My entire life has shifted as a result of knowing you.
As someone else mentioned, I get a couple hundred emails a day, many of which do not get opened. However, I always know that yours will be worth the time to read and digest.
    Keep on keeping on!
How can I be of service to you today?

    Kevin,
This is a great reminder of the importance of humility in all things. You set a great example by knowing your purpose, celebrating your abilities, and inviting people to play along with you.
I have been blessed w/ some wonderful mentors this year. I really appreciate your light touch. We don’t laugh enough lately!

This is a great post! This has been a heavy topic of discussion between my friends and colleagues lately. I have been reading posts from people that are completely following “gurus” blindly and losing who they are and what they stand for in the process.

Thank you for stating so openly, what has been on so many of our minds.

You are a breath of fresh air in the online marketing world and I am so honored to know you and to call you my mentor. Thank you also for holding the space for me to step up and into myself fully. And for helping me follow a path of authenticity. I am so excited about the coming year after meeting with you this past week. And last but not least, thank you for helping to make my birthday week one I will never forget.

You CAN do this on YOUR terms. I’m so glad to watch that play out for you. I’m honored to have the opportunity to mentor you. I agree with what you said in Ohio. I don’t think you’ll recognize your life next year.

    Hi Kevin,

I too stand in service to those who seek to create an extraordinary business and life by empowering others to be the best they can be.
Here’s what I know… the most important asset in achieving wealth and success is your mind. Master your mind and you will achieve wealth and improve the overall quality of your life dramatically. You’ll go further, faster than you ever imagined possible. Suddenly what seemed impossible is now possible. Here’s the thing…you can become wealthy or successful by training your mind to achieve the objective and that to achieve wealth and success; you must want it and condition your mind to attract it. You must have a proven belief that YOU can become successful. Everyone holds beliefs about money, wealth and achievement. And what you believe dictates the type of relationship you have with success—and the wealth that your success produces. So I applaud you Kevin for providing estraordinary tools to empower clients that if utilized allows them to shine. Wow – that is priceless.

    To Your Success!

A very heartfelt post Kevin, and I think it’s fair to say that your ‘followers’ think so highly of you not because you’re a ‘guru’ but because you’re prepared to tell it how it is!
I think any person’s success can be judged in the difference they make for others, not just for themselves, and your clearly hold that value dear too :-)

    Hi Kevin,
Thank you for the valuable insights you shared on the telesem last night and for today’s blog post. My primary email box gets bombarded with all sorts of things so I usually skim through them and blog posts. YOUR message came through very strong and clear: an authentic human being in touch with himself and his life’s purpose, dedicated to helping those who are serious reach their true potential. You are a breath of fresh air and I thank God for helping me find you.

Kevin, I must admit meeting you has eluded me until Nov 2009, but I liked what I heard, and confirm that you’re right.

A friend of mine did a market test for her product and the clear winner was the one that cost MORE. I believe we get what we pay for, and I won’t sell myself short.

In addition, I want clients who can and are willing to pay for the incredible value I provide. Your seminar cemented that desire and I thank you for bolstering my resolve not to give away my unique expertise. You rock!

Mostly, I take a quick look and hit delete. This one I didn’t.

I don’t need to pat you on the back for a great, heartfelt post ’cause you already reap the magnificent rewards associated with helping others achieve their goals – but I do regardless.

    Hi Kevin,

Some of us have been brained washed into believing that success is measured by the amount of money (TOYS) we have.

Now don’t get me wrong there is certainly noting wrong with being a financial success. The secret is… how many people have you touched along the way.

Here’s the thing… MANY people who are successful financially are caught up in their head and the poor heart does not get a chance to function.

When the heart is not functioning properly then we suffer from all kind of health problem.

So Kevin, just continue to let your HEART be your guide.

    Peace to you my brother.

    Nov 13th, 2009

Kevin, 2 things you wrote really stand out to me.

First, that success is measured differently by everyone. We shouldn’t presume that the person standing next to us wants what we want (or what we have for that matter).

Second, the guru status thing – it’s SO easy to get caught up in it. Whether it’s following someone up the ladder, or just blindly believing what they say. I’m learning that with “guru status” there’s often a big disconnect between perception and reality.

Great post! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    • Kevin Nations

      Thanks for the comments, Amy!
And I’m all for PUSHING the envelope – just pushing to be OUR best instead of comparing to someone else. At the end of the day, our best is a HIGHER standard if we’re really naked about it…

This is great, Kevin! I can so relate, I’m tired of the Big Deal, I offer the REAL Deal! When clients have called to thank me and tell me about a breakthrough they just had, I’m surprised at how I feel and what I comes up to say: I can offer all the advise and direction in the world but they did the work, they put it into action, I didn’t do that for them! I tell them how totally amazing they are and how much courage they’ve shown and ask them to stop and feel that pride in themselves, knowing that they did it themselves and can do it again over and over. Now, that’s empowerment! That’s who I am! Thanks for sharing your viewpoint and allowing me to admire you for it and share it with you, Kevin.

Hello, Kevin. Interesting post. You know, it is very seldom I find posts that sound so simple and really inspiring like this one. More often I see: you have to be a leader, guru, expert, etc. But what about being yourself and just help people to find who they are. It is very interesting, but I have something similar for my mission. By the way, Great call you had yesterday. Take care.

    • Kevin Nations

      Nov 13th, 2009

Vitalii – Leadership is AWESOME if it sends someone to their HIGHEST place – Mentors are amazing too.

Awesome post. Very much on the same page, especially as it relates to giving up power by doing what someone “told me to do”.

I think this is the hardest thing to come to grips with when you are starting out. That the “gurus” aren’t always right, but what is right is when you are in full alignment with who you are.

Your post resonates deeply. I am studying with someone who is positioning themselves as a guru. I really like this person and what they are teaching me and I admire them, respect them and will continue to support them and learn with them, however I have had to do some work to redirect and re-interface with an energetic cord they are wanting to embed in my energy system. I am grateful to be conscious of it so I can make a choice, and am disappointed that is how they are setting things up. I don’t desire a guru in this lifetime. Been there, done that. Useful information is great and I love to learn but I value my freedom and no judgment it’s just not for me. I know for some folks that is the perfect path for them, to each his own creation of an ideal life. I celebrate your choice to embrace and embody a different model. Wish you boundless joy and success, however you do define it. Sounds like you’ve created it and continue to do so moment-to-moment. Wonderful.

    • Kevin Nations

      Nov 13th, 2009

So grateful you’re not throwing the baby out with the bath-water! So many people who seek to be ‘gurus’ have GREAT things to offer.
Glad you’re taking advantage of it and learning the powerful lessons they have to share!
      Keep being awesome!

    Kevin,
Soooo well said – and one of the reasons I dawdle about going to many of these mega events. I’m passionate about enabling my clients, entrepreneurial women with a vision. They get stalled as they put their passion in action and then look up and say “Oh! Now I’ve got to run a company!” They want me as their advocate, teacher, mentor, not their guru!

While they may be showing up to learn how to run their business, they sure don’t need a guru – they need practical action oriented solutions that make it all work easier. So I love your post – now let’s figure out how to have guru-free zones!

This post is a true and authentic version of everything that you offer and possess.
Having worked with you personally, I know you are not the Guru brand. Quite the opposite your big win is when your clients hit it out of the park!
BTW, I was reading this post from my phone while depositing money at the drive-up teller (money that is a result of your trainings!). I was so engrossed that I drove off before the transaction was complete! I recovered the fumble and want you to know that I hope many others get the chance to work with you soon.

I got to meet Kevin in July while at an event in Vegas. By far one the nicest, level headed, and smartest guys around.

He’s modest about his success and has a ton of great ideas. If you get a chance to work with him, do it.

I plan doing that very soon to take my business to the next level.

Kevin – hope we can catch up at another event soon. The next round of Patrón is on me…

Thank you Kevin, for speaking this important truth. It takes courage, in a world gone mad, to say the truth, your truth. Keep it up, I am a big fan of your work and your stand in the world.

    Hey Kevin,
Great post man. Very happy to hear someone come right out and say what a lot of us probably already think. Sad thing is that that dude’s comment would probably make a lot of folks shrink and cower away, thinking they don’t have enough significance.

I don’t usually feel a need to know who anybody is…especially if they feel inclined to tell me.

    Thanks for a great post.
