Are you Selling Carrots or Chocolate?
By Kevin Nations Posted on Oct 19, 2009
Serving your market is just SO MUCH FUN when your prospects are FLOCKING to buy from you!
However, that’s not always the case. In fact, the heart-cry that I’ve heard from tens of thousands of my clients and online followers is…
“How can I communicate so that people are not only INTERESTED in me, but want to INVEST in my services.”
Think about this – you like carrots, right. And they’re good for you. Ever CRAVED one? Had your heart (and stomach) do butterflies just at the thought… Yeah! You already know where I’m going next. And you’re ALREADY starting to feel your mouth water at even the THOUGHT of a perfect piece of chocolate!
How do you Like it?
Dark? Milk Chocolate? Bitter? Sweet? Crunchy, Smooth and Creamy?
No matter HOW you like it – don’t you just feel the difference in the response you’re having to our chocolate ecstasy excursion when compared to our earlier conversation about carrots?
Now imagine your clients… Having to listen ALL DAY LONG about how ‘beneficial’ those carrots you’re offering are. Imagine if you could make them CRAVE your services just like you’re STILL thinking about that chocolate!
That’s right – close your eyes and taste that chocolate ONE MORE TIME before we move on…
We both know you’ve got GREAT ‘Stuff’ – how about learning how to have people feel the desire for it because of your communication!
If you want to learn how to stop having clients who only admire what you do but LITERALLY CHASE YOU DOWN because they CRAVE the outcome you provide – then you need to learn how to find the ‘Chocolate’ in your business. That sweet magic that makes people chase you down to give you their green!
I’m holding a call on Thursday, October 29 that will tell you EXACTLY how to make your clients respond like you’re offering the world’s FINEST chocolate – no matter WHAT you’re now selling! How to make them CRAVE your services like never before and Pursue you to get WHATEVER YOU’RE OFFERING!
For my blog readers only, I’m offering you a chance to register for that call and qualify for a few special bonuses before anyone else does. Register below NOW and save the date (October 29!) I promise you – this will be an EPIC revelation like none other about how to build uninhibited DESIRE within your OWN market! If you want to keep selling the carrots in your business – beware!
Your competition is gonna be on learning how to offer chocolate!
See you Thursday (And we both know that I will!)

Thanks Kevin… funny that I call my blog “Confessions of a Chocoholic”. I love chocolate and relate to this one.
I teach people who to lose fat and still eat chocolate! Have your carrot and eat chocolate too.
Maybe that’s my piece of chocolate that you are referring to.
Thanks for the thought…

Yes we know how enticing chocolate can be & if we learn the to connect that same kind of desire for chocolate into the desire for our products & services then we have truly mastered the arti of marketing to our clients.

Ditto on the dessert Jeff! Makes total sense.
Kevin, love, love this fun title! Signed on. I’m revving up my inner seductress. Let’s all “marketing flirt” with our clients … I’m gonna wear lipstick when I listen in.

I’ll be on that call for sure, Kevin – the great questions you have posed these past six months have given me so much good food for thought…doesn’t surprise me we’re on to dessert now!

Chocolate is my favorite FOOD! And I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels that way.
My company Aurum Design has gone to great lengths to acquire GoldKenn chocolate bars for our client thank yous… they are only available in duty free shops at International Airports. The hoops you jump through for the love of chocolate and the desire of greatness.

What an EXCELLENT analogy!
Time to re-evaluate where the “chocolate” is in our offer. Offering carrots certainly hasn’t worked.
Your friend,
Brennan
P.S. Thanks for the timing of the call.

Thanks Kevin! I can really “grok” the feeling my prospects need to be having about what I do from the way you’ve described it. I feel a re-write coming on. = >
What a great metaphor!

Great blog post about chocolate. It makes great sense about giving people what they crave and what gets them excited… Not boring cookie cutter stuff. What is important is to be creative in expressing what we offer and make it irrestistible to let go..
Thanks

This leapfrogs way beyond “benefits & features” and goes straight the “jugular of desire”.
Excuse me, but I suddenly have the urge for chocolate…

Yummy post Kevin!
Creating client desire is like getting them to crave what you offer. I LOVE that.
There’s quite a difference between admire and desire. We admire what carrots can do for us. But desire chocolate. It’s the difference between enjoying something and feeling in your soul you just have to have it.
Yes communication is the key. Thanks for singing my song

My thoughts exactly Jeff. Start with dessert. Have the “good for you” stuff afterward. Mom had it backwards!
